Special tips for interviews with radio reporters

The following tips will be helpful when added to the information contained in all earlier Media Tips. You can view them by clicking here .

In the meantime, here are the special tips for interviews with radio reporters.

1. When giving the interview over the phone, assume that the tape is always running.

2. Speak in your normal volume - allowing yourself naturally to vary pitch and pace for emphasis.

3. When giving a studio interview, keep constant distance from the microphone - and don't let your body sway or move your head forwards and backwards or from side to side.

4. If a radio news report is biased, unbalanced or factually incorrect, immediately identify the few key messages you want to get across and call the station's news director. Chances are they'll start rolling the tape to do a follow-up story for the next hourly broadcast.
